ACS Surface Binder

A water-dilutable, solvent-free microemulsion impregnation liquid based on silanes and siloxanes, for application to interior masonry such as, brick, stone and render. Surfaces treated with ACS Surface Binder remain fully water vapour and gas permeable.

USES
Binds and stabilizes chalky, dusty and friable masonry to provide a well-bound substrate. The product is especially useful where recently exposed or porous interior masonry is to be retained for its aesthetic qualities, but where there may be a problem with dust contamination of furniture and carpets.

Once cured, ACS Surface Binder forms an integral matrix, rendering the masonry water repellent and resistant to the formation of efflorescent salts. The product can be applied to both damp and alkaline substrates allowing the treatment of limestone and lime pointing.

FINISH
Milky white when diluted, drying to a non-film forming, near invisible clear finish which does not significantly alter the original appearance of the substrate.

PREPARATION
Clean down the surface to remove all dust, dirt and loose or flaking material. Make good any repairs and if necessary re-point any joints. After needle gunning or grit blasting, brush the surface to remove any impacted material and finish by vacuum sweeping.

DILUTION AND APPLICATION
Add 1 part ACS Surface Binder to 9 parts clean water and mix thoroughly. Apply 2 saturation coats by low pressure, non-atomising spray, starting at the top of the wall and working downwards. The second coat should be applied whilst the surface is still wet from the first.

LIMITATIONS OF USE
Some mineral substrates such as marble and granite may not be suitable for treatment. Prevent over-spray coming into contact with glass, plant life, furniture or carpets. Keep treated surface dry until a full cure is achieved.

The diluted product will not store and must be used on the day it is diluted.

Do not apply to surfaces, which are to be painted, unless the ACS SREP Masonrycote is used.
